COLLECTION
Meteorite Name: Harrisonville
Location: Cass County, Missouri
Classification: L6 Chondrite
Witnessed Fall: No
Date and Time: Found 1933
TKW: 46.5 kilograms
Remarks:
Originally a total of 14 stones were found with a total weight of 12.9 kilograms. Subsequent searching increased the total recovered weight to 16 kilograms, and Harvey Nininger was involved in the early stages of recovery. This end section was originally labeled by the American Meteorite Laboratory (specimen # 176.56) at a weight of 292 grams, but concurrent with my acquisition of this piece from The Schwade Meteorite Collection in 2008 a slice was removed for the Jay Piatek Collection of Meteorites. David New acquired this specimen from Harvey Nininger, and Jim Schwade purchased it from him in January of 1985.
